I must admit I’m a science fiction freak, so seeing a preview for a movie that follows a path of what would happen if… gets me very excited everytime. This seems to be combination of Leftovers and Twilight Zone, but also with a deeper meaning that meets the eye. Loving the trend that The Arrival has started, smart sci-fi here we come!
When a flash of light shoots across the sky on their romantic, Iceland vacation, Jenai (Maika Monroe) and Riley (Matt O’Leary) wake up to discover every person on Earth has disappeared. Their struggle to survive and to reconcile the mysterious event lead them to reconsider everything they know about themselves and the world.
BOKEH, a science fiction drama, stars Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest, Labor Day) and Matt O’Leary (Eden, The Lone Ranger, Brick). Shot entirely in Iceland, this meditative, delicate fable is about the values of life and living. The couple in this story are forced to think about the brevity of life on the planet and thus have a harder time making better choices. The story balances the universal theme of love while displaying the loneliness that exists with being in love.
Bokeh is the blur, the out of focus part of the photo. In life, we choose what we focus on and what we blur. We wanted to tell a story of two people who continue to change their priorities, their ideals, their focus based on an altered world. They are defined not just by what they focus on, but what they choose to blur.
